Founded by native Tucsonan Cheri Romanoski, Desert Harvest grew from a family tradition of preserving the fruits of the Sonoran Desert into a business that has operated since 1985. Today, fresh produce is still processed by hand, and products are prepared in small quantities.
Their approach to prickly pear is particularly special: the fruit is harvested for preserves, the seeds are recovered to produce organic cold-pressed prickly pear seed oil, and the remaining skins and pulp are used as animal feed or donated for compost.
